Self Portrait

Girl with Arms Crossed

Girl Looking Straight Out
These gorgeous paintings are by British Painter Claerwen James.  James specializes in portraiture based on photographs.  Most of her work is of young people.  I have to say I was awed by these paintings.  They are so striking and mesmerizing.  What I wouldn’t do to have one made of my two children.   Claerwen James also has a book of her images that can be purchased on amazon (UK site).  You can also view more of her work at flowerseast.com and clivejames.com.  I hope you enjoy these beautiful portraits as much as I did.
On Friday’s I like to post something to think on….Here is something I read this morning that led me to these lovely portraits:
“Your self-image is much like a self-portrait; it is who and what you picture yourself to be, which may or may not be an accurate reflection of who you really are.  How you feel about yourself will have a tremendous impact on the mother (person) you become, because you will probably speak, act, and react as the person you think you are.  The truth is, you will never rise above the image you have of your self in your mind.”
-Joel Osteen from Your Best Life Now for Mom’s
What is the portrait or image you have of yourself in your own mind?  This is something that I am definitely thinking on…..
