Lady Friends . . .

So I have been thinking lately (and discussing with others) about girlfriends.  If we all admit it sometimes we have a hard time being friends with other women.  Real, true friends, that is.   We can tend to compare ourselves and our things.  We can be a little judgemental and a little slow at seeing each other for who we really are. We like to keep our guard up.  And the thing of it is, we are all truly different and unique.  One of a kind.  Like any precious stone or work of art we all have our flaws.  But we all have our own unique beauty, like none other.  Yet both the flaws and beauty are all our own!
Yesterday I was browsing around Tracy Porter’s blog (if you haven’t read it, I highly recommend it.  It is smart, inspiring, and real.) and came across books that are on her night stand and this one, which I have not read, called The Art of Being a Woman by Veronique had this fabulous quote that is really something for us all to think about and strive towards.
“It takes a great woman to spot greatness in another woman!”
I hope we can all begin to see the greatness in all of our wonderful girlfriends, the women in our family and acquaintances.  And that it wouldn’t threaten us but inspire us.
