I have a confession to make….. this is so not like me and I still am not quite sure what has gotten into me but I found these chairs in someones trash and I took them!!!!! Its not like I was out looking in others trash piles…I was just taking my daughter to school and minding my own business and just saw these sitting out (looking a bit sad because there life was coming to an end). I am thinking how pretty they would look when recovered and given a new life….and well I couldn’t help myself. The problem is …fabric REALLY scars me.. it is like a commitment issue or something. And to top it off I have two chairs to recover. I seem to have a chair habit. Could this fabric be ikat? That is what I told myself (ha) as I loaded them into my husbands truck! I feel much better now that I have confessed. Any fabric suggestions? I love bold but I tend to go for more neutral or something that can blend with neutral although I could use a little color (can’t we all)!
i'm Carrie, lovely to meet you…

ha ha! too cute your confession. say Eames three times and you’re good ;)
i have a similar dilemma having recently won a sofa and chair (french reproduction) at an auction for practically nothing but i can’t commit to any fabric either! part of my problem is i don’t already have a space that is designed well, i’m starting over and really just figuring out my style, etc.
i have secretly dreamed of turning my garage into a chair reupholstery studio… i troll craigslist all the time but don’t let myself buy them!
excited to see what you eventually do with these!

These chairs are great! This post made me laugh… on Tuesday, I totally grabbed a table next to a dumpster and took it home! I NEVER do that kind of thing, and now I know I’m not a complete weirdo for doing it!

talk about a fantastic find. i would have done it too;) absolutely beautiful things always does her chairs so beautifully. if you still want neutral you can always go with something with texture like a linen.

I wish such a junk is laying somewhere around my place. Love them. I have a link for Hicks fabrics on my blog, but there are millions of options depend of your decor. And YES ikat would be great!

These look like clasic chairs and I think they are a great find. I
would not have been able to resist them either. I only see two clours, a deep rich red or a cream. How boring am I. But I think a classic shape deserves something tailored and timeless. I just dont do patterns in a big way either for some reason.

I’m glad you all like the chairs and that some of you are as crazy as me, even this week- ha! Thank you for the links for fabric..
I’m thinking of putting them in my living room, which is kind of blah as is. Two accents walls of kind of warm cocoa brown (kind of a dark tan color).

Love these chairs, excellent find! I would have grabbed them, too.
I say if your home is already fairly neutral, make them a pair of bold accent pieces. Or you can always do one bold for one room, and then the other neutral for another room. I like them as a pair though :)

You go girl! You just can’t pass something so good as that up. You’ll be able to make some good use out of them, I’m sure:)

What a fabulous find! I would have stopped for these two if I went past them. They are going to be stunning! So many fabrics to choose, just depends on what look you want to create. I tend to go neutral as well. Amanda x

wow – great find! I can’t believe someone was throwing them out! I’ve done it several times. You feel so dodgy but get so much satisfaction once you’ve put your own stamp on it. They’d look great in an accent colour for the room they’ll live in. Or for a really pretty neutral with a bit of flair, try Mod Green Pod’s Grand Jubilee in cream. I love that pattern – especially the wallpaper in cream with chocolate butterflies. Heaven! x

I love to find things on the roadside! My kids always roll their eyes when they see me slowing down and eyeing something. What about a muted men’s suiting plaid or houndstooth?

Great find…I’m actually sitting in a stool that I found on someones curb (a pair)….well, it was a multi-million dollar home and they probably just got sick of them! But hey, they’re perfect for my house and I’m not too proud to take someone elses trash!
I say you go a little crazy with the fabric…why not? Can’t wait to see what you do!

I'm totally late in finding your blog and reading your posts but I'm loving what you have so far! I wish I could find fabulous chairs in like that in the trash where I live. I'd love to see what you did with the chairs. I think a white fabric with black trim and a fabulously colorful pillow would look awesome (and non-commital)!
