Home is Where the Fun Is

Pure cheery goodness.  How could you be in a bad mood
living here?  Sixx Design (for more make you drool, fun living).

I know I’m like the 100th person to post this perfect house this week but maybe a few have
not seen it yet & I just love it, like everyone else.
I am IN LOVE with this and must have one of these one day.
The Family at Home is one of my most favorite and best design
books!

I think a swing in my kitchen would be pretty  great too.
This pretty space is the home of Anita Kaushal, author
of The Family at Home.
And what kid doesn’t want to ride bikes IN the house?  We have
a very long hallway and I have to say I’ve let my kids do this
(the winters are really long here, what’s a mom to do?)
I love the idea of a stylish home that is totally kid friendly.. and not just kid friendly, to be exact but kid fun.  The first time I saw the above picture, of the slide in the house, I fell completely in love.  And should I ever build from the ground up, this is a definite feature (I think, even if my kids are grown).
One more favorite idea :  I was working at a fundraising event that we held at the home of one of the owners of Chick-fil-A.  They had a larger family and NO TV.  Well, they lived on a lake and once I took a tour of this fabulous house (if only there were camera phones back then) I could easily live there with no TV.  All of the sudden I saw people walking out of a giant old armoire and I had to do a double take.  There was a secret stairway that came out through an old wardrobe (thank you C.S. Lewis).  It was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen.  And once I took a closer look, I found that there was another opening, from the secret staircase, through the bookcases in the dining room.  So clever, done very stylishly and just pure fun and imagination for the children and grown ups a like.
Have a fun and happy weekend!

They have managed to make the home SO child friendly and at the same time look so stylish. What child wouldn’t love that! Totally awesome!

I need that trampoline. We have a regular round one and we love it, but that rectangle would be prefect for summer sleepovers on the trampoline!

I would love to have secret passages through our home, for the kids of course. My little one’s do get to ride the tricycles in the house, but that slide would top it all!

LOVE the trampoline—and I’m convinced that the adults must have as much fun on it as the kids! how great would it be to host garden parties with that in your yard?
