My Room {in process}

Here is my room in process.  Usually things are always in process with me.  This week we are having wide planked pine floors installed which we are going to {attempt} to paint white (any suggestions or pointers?).
Here is what I am stuck on…THE DRAPES.  I have been thinking blue (like the color of my lamps) in dupioni silk panels that puddle on the floor.  But finding the right shade (two swatches I have narrowed down, above) has been hard and then what if I get sick of the blue (I have been adding blue here and there throughout the house lately)?  Maybe I should just do white or ivory or something?  What do you think?  I will say I don’t like to base everything around the color on the walls because I don’t really like it (but that just might have to wait till next year).
As for the dark colored night stand.  I’m holding our for a mirrored one for my birthday and I am not sure at all about what to put over the bed??
Would love your thoughts and suggestions!

I say go for the blue drapery. follow your heart and if you like the blue, go for it! i really like the lighter shade, it is very pretty and soft. and they would look absolutely lovely puddling on the floor.

I have a similar headboard and ceiling slant. We put a very large ornate mirror above the bed. It’s great because we couldn’t think of any art that we would want there.

I would do stripes on the curtains, to add pattern and texture, in a light color, to stay serene.

    Beautiful room!

I think you are getting there all on your own Trina – your room is gorgeous and the blue silk so soft and pretty, I can’t imagine tiring of that wonderful colour, xv.

I didn’t realize it had been so long ago that I’d posted about the master bedroom. Here’s the post:

The pic is toward the bottom. It’s actually a metal mirror with a design and a green patina.

    you room is so pretty!
i would tend to have white or cream drapes…neutral.
but blue would be pretty too.
i am impressed with this room! you have a great style and taste for beautiful things.

Go blue. the shades you have picked have grey undertones, so they aren’t at all the kind of colors that are easy to tire of. They are actually almost neutral.

soo pretty trina! i love it so far.
i can’t wait to see the floors. white floors are my fave!! my opinion on the curtains are that if you pick a muted blue that isn’t too in your face blue then you will be less likely to tire of it. maybe?
as for above the bed, i think some big cool mirror or something personal. art for arts sake drives me nuts.
beautiful already though. i know you will pick all the right details!

I just saw several Scalamandre dupioni silks on “designdivafabrics.com”…they start at 20yds custom order–at $69/yd. Gorgeous colors–some have a 2-tone sheen (like a blush pink w/ a green shimmer–amazing.) *Would be worth the effort to sent a request for a smaller order, everyone is open to negotiation these days.:-)

My mother-in-law came across it and sent me the link yesterday; she just posted a bunch of amazing bedroom photos I thought you might like to see.

Your room is so pretty! I love the bench at the foot of the bed.

When I saw those pretty robin’s egg blue lamps on your night stands I automatically though the same thing, curtains in the same shade. I’m sure you’ll be able to find them somewhere!

I’ve always adored your room, seriously both are beautiful choices!

I lean toward blue, but I like color:)

The nice thing is that both options will flow with the rest of the house :) Trust your gut, girl!

    xo!

I love the lighter blue–the darker one is too muddy—but I feel you on being afraid to make a color commitment. A thought: what about doing white drapes that have a panel at the bottom (say, the final 18 inches) that is the blue color—and rather than having it sewn on you velcro it (the velcro would be invisible). That way you can switch up colors if you get tired of blue! I’ve seen this done before and it worked well…

wow this is gorgeous!!! i LOVE wide planked floors and am SO jealous.

as for curtains, i think puddling is perfect. maybe you should browse a cloth store and see if something just speaks to you? i always find it’s easier to just stumble upon something rather than searching for an idea you have!
