Unnecessary

Do you ever want things that are totally Unnecessary? I do. I saw this Peaches and Cream Barbie (along with a Barbie and the Rockers Barbie) at Toys R Us when I was Christmas Shopping. She IS the same Barbie I had when I was little. I always anything and everything from when I was little. I put both her and Rocker Barbie in the cart as hubby rolled his eyes at me….WHATEV! Well , I put them
both back because, well, they were $40 each and I suppose I would rather spend my dollars on something else. But she is pretty isn’t she?
Would it be wrong to give one to El as a gift? I’ve tried this with other things already, Popples, My Little Pony, Rainbow Brite etc. etc. Not as much excitement
as I was hoping for. Well Today, I could use a little of the unnecessary (I’m having trouble spelling this word). And in fact I’d be quite happy
to be the child playing with my Barbies in the playroom. I’m sure you wish that sometimes too?

PS- Do you Tweet? I said NEVER, I will not ever, never, no way do Twitter. I told my Dad that Twitter was Facebook on crack, actually…. and what do you know, I’m thinking about it? It is UNNECESSARY for me, I’m quite sure, to start Twittering now but thought it might add a little fun to the being at home all the time bit.

I had this Barbie too and I still have her buried somewhere in my parents' box room. I sometimes have a little play with all my old toys whenever I go back home. I think you should just buy the doll if you really want her. I can't believe she's still on the market!

I hope your husband reads this and goes and buys you one! There is nothing wrong with sentimentality- especially with some of the toys of today. If your daughter is into Barbies then I think that gives you a pass!

p.s. Congrats on the new baby!

Love you! Just pulled my Peaches n Cream Barbie dress from the wash, as I got ALL of my old Barbie stuff from my mom's house a few weeks ago. The Barbie Dream House (In orange and yellow? HOT!). Check. The home/office combo? Check. Barbie Ice Cream Parlor? Check. Barbie Surf Shop? Check. The girls are SEMI-into them, but not gung ho. I, too, have passed along Popples (which I didn't even know I had!), Monchichis, some doll set with snap on clothes, colorform (they still stick!), etc.
SO SO SO glad I'm not the only one. I'd be happy to have you over for a Peaches n Cream playdate!

I do use FB, and do occasionally use Twitter. I signed up for Twitter mostly b/c I kept reading how it was a good way to network work-wise, though I don't spend enough time on it/incorporate it enough to see any benefits at this point.

So, I clicked on your blog because of the Peaches n Cream barbie pic. TOTALLY get it! I'm so picking one up. My Mom get my little sis and I Barbie and the Rockers barbies for Christmas. Ummmmmm, yeah. We're 31 and 28. We squealed like 6 year olds. It is the exact Barbie that we had when we were little. You can't put a price on recapturing your youth!

Oh geeze I want one! You can't put those kind of curls in a normal Barbie's hair, no matter how hard you try. *sigh* I'll be honest, when I babysit girls I'm always the one to suggest playing with Barbies!

I had so many Barbies when I was little. My daughter has some now too. And I cant do Twitter….or Facebook or anything like it just yet. Blogging is enough for me. Hope you had a great New Year and look forward to reading your blog in 2010.

Who knew a peaches and cream barbie would generate so much chatter but I can def see that we all would have been playmates!

Kristin – you lucky thing you got the Barbie and the Rocker doll? That would have been so cool to open up on Christmas day – magic, I bet!

Amy Kate – you have all of the good toys… I would def love to come over for a playdate!

I wish I had my old doll but I had this rotten babysitter that stole my barbies for her daughter… yep, it's true one time she took us to her house and there was my angel face babrie! I"m pretty sure she took peaches too!

Well, I am tweeting now… so let's chat!

I wasn't allowed any Barbie dolls. I desperately wanted this one and i still do! If i came across one i would buy it straight away, just to fulfill that desire I had as a little girl.
I did however have a Keyper turtle that i loved. It smelt like talcum powder :)

Too cute. Thanks for sharing this!

I totally have the remnants of this Barbie that my 3 year old plays with. I feel totally retro cool now! She is missing her scarf, belt, ring, necklace but i did keep her Ken and silver Mercadus car! Lucky 3 year old I say!
