Royally Kind

I am really excited to be a part of Roaylly Kind. Jillian from the Duchess Guide has gathered a group of bloggers to participate in a great blogging event where each blogger was to perform a random act of kindness to a total stranger.

Don’t you love that? I do. And I always think that it is amazing what a single act of kindness can do. And the most amazing thing is, you will probably never know the result of it….you’ll never know what kind of difference your very small gesture might have made in the life of someone else. And that is the most beautiful part of it. No strings attached and expecting nothing in return.

What to do? If you’re like me then you over think things and then do nothing. But even something as simple as genuine sunshine smile can make someone’s gloomy day turn around. It’s just about being aware of others around us and keeping an eye out for even the smallest need they might have.

I over thought and since I was sick and I always tote around 3 littles with me I felt a little limited in how to do this . . . but what I decided upon was to take something I usually dread . . . The G-R-O-C-E-R-Y Store … and turn it into my time to be Roaylly Kind. I can only imagine that being a check out person can be super stressful and includes some not really not so nice customers.

I picked up a $5 gift card to Starbucks. Wrote a little note. And after I paid my bill, said, “This is for you….I hope you have a great day!” She looked at me kind of strange and slipped it in her pocket. And truly for me the best part was having my kids with. My 7 year old could not figure out why I would buy a gift card and give it to a stranger. She even called me weird. I think she thought the check out lady would think I was weird…and actually I think she might have thought that but after we passed the gift card and walked away the kids thought it was pretty neat. I know its something they won’t forget. And for that I’ll look weird any day of the week.

And here’s a confession. I was suppose to blog about this last week and then got sick. Fast forward . . . I happened to be at Starbucks today and my next stop was The G-R-O-C-E-R-Y Store. I couldn’t help myself and took a $5 gift card with me again. And it was even more fun the second time around. I think this might become somewhat of an occasional habit.

Love blessing people (even strangers) for no reason at all.

Join in and be Roaylly Kind to someone around you this week!

xx Trina

I love this. There is a local deli that I order take-out lunch from often. The girl who runs the phone and register is always totally frazzled, as she works her hiney off trying to keep up. Every once in a while I will add a generous tip to my pay and tell her to keep it. I know she doesn't get tips because she isn't the waitress, but she sure deserves them!
