I do realize this is second Nutella recipe I’ve posted this week but that just goes to show how much I love me some Nutella. So . . . I bought someone a cookbook for Christmas and took a little peek inside and saw THIS RECIPE. I think this would be such a fun and special dish for Christmas morning.
My tradition to is to order the Williams Sonoma Chocolate Croissants but it just didn’t happen this year. If can find some Brioche around here than I think the the croissants might not even be missed.
Ingredients
- 8 LARGE EGGS
- 2 1∕2 CUPS WHOLE MILK
- 1∕4 CUP SUGAR
- 1∕2 TEASPOON KOSHER SALT
- ZEST OF 1 ORANGE
- 1 TEASPOON VANILLA EXTRACT
- 1 LOAF BRIOCHE BREAD, SLICED ABOUT 3∕4-INCH THICK
- 3∕4 CUP NUTELLA
- 3 RIPE BANANAS, SLICED ON A DIAGONAL
In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, sugar, salt, orange zest, and vanilla. Set aside.
Grease a baking dish. Spread half of the bread slices with Nutella and top with bananas and remaining bread slices. Place in the baking dish. Pour egg mixture over the bread and allow it to soak in, at least 20 minutes. (I like to make this the night before, cover it, and store it in the refrigerator until the next morning.)
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake for 50 to 55 minutes, until bread is golden brown and puffy. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

Yum eeeeeee! Love Nutella too. Saw a homemade version on a blog yesterday and can't remember where! Just talking with my Huzz a few moments ago about Christmas Day breakfast and making sure we have a pile of chocolate croissants from our little baker. Huzz and I always have scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and a glass or 3 of Champagne to start the day off. Merry Christmas.

The choco croissants from w.s. are so yummy but have you tried the choco croissants from Trader Joe's (is there one near you)? Oh my goodness I think they are just as good…and less expensive.
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
