Little Bits & A Big Thank You

I thought I would show you some little bits around my house today. You can see my Christmas decor this year is anything but spectacular but for this year it will certainly do.

I love Christmas lights in glass. I wanted to go crazy with this but this is as far as I’ve gotten.

My mantle. I don’t like my stockings so I took them down for the picture. The garland looks like a big M which is in fact the first letter of my last name but this was not my intention. Next year I’ll work on hanging it better and for now I’m kind of digging the imperfection.

Quirky old ornaments. This one is from when I was a kid. It is Michael or John from Peter Pan and I just cannot part with him.
Pardon the terrible photography and the lovely 90’s wedding photo but this year I scouted out REAL mistletoe. I don’t know why but I really wanted some. It just feels so old fashioned, at least to me.
Here is another childhood piece that makes its way out year after year. Even when we were older my mom put this piece out. And well, if you didn’t know, I live in the house I grew up in and I always feel like it just wouldn’t be right to not put this guy up. I thought my kids would like it, anyways….but the little miss told me firmly, that she did not.

My brilliant idea of mixing greens and feathers.

This was a favorite of a few years ago and should I admit to you that I never took it down? I liked the whimsy. Maybe after Christmas this year I had better put it to rest?
I wanted to say a BIG thank you to all of your lovely comments, words of encouragement and honesty on my last post. I do so enjoy blogging and for me the best part is connecting with others. I want always to provide the pretty and be positive. I have had many a days recently where I’ve wanted to say this and most definitely that but have refrained because I always hope to encourage others and I myself try to stay positive. But it seems to me that there is also a time for just being honest and real and as I can see that has definitely connected with so many of you.
Thank you again and I hope to comment back and visit many of you’re blogs over the next few days.
Happy Thursday!
xoxo

Your decor beats mine by far if it makes you feel any better. And that sweet ornament brought back so many memories for me as a child! We use to have those all over our tree…times change. So do ornaments…happy day sweetie!
