Easy Does it Goals & Piling

I DID, in fact, write some non-goal goals, or shall we say easy does it goals, last night. I did decide to keep it light. Because as I said I’m pretty sure referring to last year’s very detailed list will do for this year too. I did feel a little sad because I always love to start with a new journal. But, I haven’t even used half of my journal (above) from last year. It’s a pity because I am specifically wanting this Python Journal {OH MY, look it’s on sale! And these are on sale too. A shop from home kind of day, maybe?} I saw over at Made by Girl {she is so stylish}.
Here are a few of Easy Does it Goals:
{ I even included a few things that I know are going to get done, just so I can check them off. It’s good for moral and good measure, you know}
*Vacation with just me and the Mister

*Attend Alt Summit

*Re-design blog

*Keep walking and lifting weights

*Be Decisive . start with small things . Decide quickly and stick with it

*Build friendships

*Write down & make plans for family dreams for the future {a year in France, crazy things like that — Why not?}

*Give . find tangible ways to help others .

* Relax and let go . don’t stress over messy house, schedule, etc.

*Oui Oui . start up Rosetta Stone French again {just in case our year in France comes sooner than later}

*Read my Bible and pray {just talk to God} a little each day . don’t complicate things .

*Peace . seek peace and go after it . do my best to make my home a peaceful place and refuge from the outside

*Grace . be graceful to others and have grace on myself {about to be the mom of 4 little people- wowza}

*Nurture . my hubs and kids . so much so that feel it on a daily basis .
And just added . . .

*STOP PILING
This is my little desk area in my kitchen. Which I do not use. I cannot seem to keep the piles away {sadly, a problem on my computer desktop too}. No matter what.
To get away, I move myself over to the kitchen counter and make more working piles. Which I try to clean up by the end of the day. But, honestly, they linger quite often.

Do you all want to help? Any suggestions for kitchen desks? Organizational Tips? Organizational products?
Do tell.
And look . . . See my very brown stools? I REALLY want to replace them.
I’m pretty sure it’s between these
or these (I la la love her home BTW)
WHICH do you LIKE best? And do TELL me how to quit PILING and organize MY DESK.

    I pile and pile on the desk and island too. Then the kids come home and we pile more crap on the island.
    I've got the same sickness.

    It is a sickness! And I know what you mean because when my kids get home more piles are born!

    OH my gosh! Same pile problem here…I was going to update my blog about it and join in an organization party! (just organized my area this morning). As for the benches…I like the 2nd ones. You could probably take the ones you already have, paint them the same color in the 2nd picture and change the upholstery. Hmmmm….another goal?

    Ha! I'm bad to pile stuff on my desks and tables, too. I try to have a place to file every paper I come across. Then at least they are put away. Notes and scribbles, though, just keep piling. :)

    I like the second ones, because I don't think you could sit on the top ones and work for too long.

    I have no ideas for piles of stuff, I'm a piler from way back.

    all people with kids have piles. It's unavoidable. Plus I think it's more tied to indecisiveness. So I like your idea to get rid of it. I love your family goals list & learning the French Language as well. I'm soo learning German this year, as my husband is doing amazingly well and I need to catch up to him. I think I'm more likely to do that then gettting rid of my piles…

    Hello, I know what you mean about all the paperwork. So much of it comes through the house especially from school. We just renovated our basement and we created a space for the kids so we can all organize our work. Let's see how it works. I still haven't figured out how to handle all the mail that comes through especially the catalogues. We purchased the stools shown in the first picture from overstock.com. I'm trying to make cushions for them to make it a little more comfortable.
    Thank you for sharing.

    such great goals. I always find my pile looks better in my old wooden trough. I then clean it out once or twice a month to make more room for piling on ;)

    I love your goals – thank you for sharing. Piling is now extinct in our family study because I got some lidded boxes (Ikea), labelled them into categories….so every time a piece of paper appears it goes in there. And then once a month I file or throw…maybe a little scarily organised but it works for me!!

    I like Paula's idea of something unique to stack the piles of paper in and then when it is full toss or file (the bane of my existence)!

    Your easy does it goals are wonderful! I have made a series of lists for myself and have decided to revisit the lists at the beginning of each month to see what can be checked off and what needs to be adjusted. So far so good, but we're only a couple of weeks in. {wink}

    When it comes to piling I find if my "creative space" is inspiring and decorated to motivate me, that I keep it clean. Of course I pile too–at times–but I find that I am very quick to clean up my little piles so that I can come back to an inspiring work space. I do have a "dump drawer" that i dump everything into when I don't have time to clean the piles, but I go through the dump drawer each night before bed, so that my space is ready for me (and the dump drawer is ready for a fresh pile–that doesn't sound right, but you know what I mean)first thing in the morning.

    Happy New Year!

    First of all.. I'm glad I'm in good company and it looks like i've got a support group for piling addiction!

    I do love the ideas you all shared for how you keep you're piles at minimum. I'm gonna give it a try. And hey it's an excuse to buy some cool basket, box or something or the other.

    And thanks for comments on the stools.. I guess backless isn't the best with kids. But I thought I might be able to pop a total of 4 of those at my counter. Hmm.

    xo
