The New Year

The New Year.

Who I want to be
Where I want to go
What I want to do
Who I want to know
Where I want to grow
What I want to sow
I love lists and I hate them
I make them and I break them
They are long when maybe
they should be simple and short
This is writing . . . it shouldn’t be tamed
It should flow and go and go and on it goes
A wish list for my life, perhaps
But never said, never thought and never dreamed
equals never happens
Think big, dream big, wish big, hope big and do big

Did you have a Happy New Year? I was sick in bed. In fact, I feel like New Year’s has not even come yet for me. But, surely, it has and so I suppose I should get thinking about this and that and what I should do and who I should be.
I’ve been reading resolutions, goals and lists (I’ve quite enjoyed this format & might take this rather new approach for myself this year).
The above is a little something I wrote last year before I wrote out my lists and plans for the year. And I’m a little sad to report that I could probably just adapt last years list to this year.
I like to write out areas to grow in, relationships to work on, random wish type goals to the normal exercise ambitions.
For the sake of crossing this and that off … here are a few things from last year that…. I can … check check.
*Not be so fearful – doing things afraid if I must (this is kind of ongoing for me but I did do a big {at least for me} something afraid this past year
*More Date Nights with the Mister
*Look for and recognize my children’s gifts/talents (narrowing this down with #1)
*Walk 5x a week (lets not count the month of December)
*Make new friends and be a friend
*Meet some bloggers
What about you? Are you a resolutions type of girl? Do you make them and break them? Are they just for fun or part of your life story?

I love your poem, or whatever it is you'd call it. It's simple and beautiful. I loved Erin's non-goals, as well. Hope you're feeling better. Being sick over the holidays was not fun in our house either!

First, loved your poem- you're very talented my dear. Next, as for resolutions, I have more of a to get done list that I try to work on- I think resolutions are too easily not achieved and that just makes you feel guilty- I prefer some little putter things I can easily check off and then I just continually remind myself of hte bigger picture things I want to change/work on throughout the year. Not entirely sure if that made any sense but there you go:) How are you feeling btw- 2011 will be such an exciting one for you!

    I love the poem.
I make lists, too. Sometimes things get marked off. Sometimes not. I just hope that I can be happy regardless of what I get done.

*e-mail me your address. I owe you some goodies.
