I’m finally thinking baby. I can’t not. My belly is sticking out in full basketball style and my aches and pains through the night and most of the day keep my mind stayed on this little guy that I’ll be meeting in about 5-6 weeks (I like to knock off a week or two for good measure or at least to appease myself, however dangerous this might be).
Since this is #4 and #3 is only a wee 16 months there isn’t much to get or prepare for. The two biggest baby decisions plaguing me at the moment are :
1) a name
2) a ride
Let’s start with 2) because I want to get this over with. I have said I will never, ever, not no way or no how have or drive a mini man (I mean no offense to you mini van moms that love your wheels). It’s just not me. But, (and I’m sure this is something a lot of you have said …please say, yes) what do you do when you have 4? I can fit 4 kids in my car right now, that is not totally the issue. It’s how they get in and out. Basically, the scene is a little bit like clowns getting out of a car at the circus. Mix in snow and slop and mess and lots of climbing (and no extra room for a stroller or groceries) and there you have it. The other option is a giant suburban, yukon typemobile. I say yes to that. Except, I don’t think it will fit in my garage and the cost is quite a bit more, not to mention gas prices. Ok…so I’m trying to economical (mostly) and just swallow my pride and say yes to the mini. We went looking this weekend and I kind of had a bad attitude. It was bad. I thought I’d have it sorted but I don’t.
I think the Honda Odyssey looks better on the outside. It has a little more of that Euro Wagon vibe while the Sienna looks like a giant bubble. However, I think the Toyota drives a bit nicer and the interior seems one smidge of smidge better.
What do you guys think? Does anyone own one or the other?
And 1) a name. Boy names are hard for me. And this is the 3rd time with this name game. I’ve put it off and I can almost promise you that I won’t decide until I see his face but at least I have some sort of list going and it looks a little like this:
Oliver (Ollie)
Finn
Rocco (Roc)
Otto
Moses
Jasper
Royal
Wylder
Sloane
Gus
Theo
Some I know are a no go but I like them on my list anyways. Do you have any fav’s? Have you heard any perfect names? All I know is that I need a great middle name, you know one that holds it’s own with Liam Brave. And to be honest, this time I’m looking for something that means Peace or the like. I could use some of that, couldn’t we all?
If you are looking to name a little, here are my new favorite sites:
And speaking of babies….there is always this or that, that you have to have and I don’t have to have anything but this is a want, maybe. These cool nursing cover ups which double as stroller, car seat cover. Which looks mostly like a stylish shirt. I saw these over on Copycat Chic along with other creams and things I think I might need or at least need to try.
I have a super busy week but I’ll be posting. Pop back tomorrow to see my new chairs!
Happy Monday!

Jasper! Jasper! Jasper!
You know I approve of that one! The ONLY other names we had for him were Julian (his middle name) and Marlon. There is a "Jett" at Anoushka''s kindy – I kinda like that too… "Rupert" is cute too. Maybe for a middle name…
GOOD LUCK Sweets! Looking so forward to the "reveal"!

Hello! I like Moses and Theo. And, if want a middle name that means Peace, why don't you call him White? It's one of my family names end I love it!

I cried, I mean CRIED when I first saw our new mini van. I thought "this isn't me!" and "i don't even recognize myself anymore!" Then after about 3 days I thought "how did I ever live with out this van?" You get over it.
I love the name Gus!
good luck!

when i saw those little bags my heart expanded. i have a cate and she is 23 years old. do you know that she is the only cate around in that age group. i also have a 19 year old jack. and not one other jack has he ever gone to school with.
most of the jacks we meet now are 8 years old. i like being ahead of the name game.
as far as vans go. yes get one. we had one for many years {that were dodge} but now, no matter what vehicle, we are huge honda fans.
and the names….
i love theo and for a middle name, i love soul. theo soul. kind of cool maybe :)
the worst thing about names anymore is that every name i love, is already taken by a friends dog or cat and i can't get past that…..
my cousin just had a boy. his name is london. and already i can hear some song sung about london's underpants and seeing france….kids are cruel.

My vote is for Oliver Pax (latin for Peace).
Something about writing a name out on paper that makes the perfect name just pop out. That's what I did for each of my three children.

I know it wasn't on your list- but I saw in your graphic the name "Sawyer" and I immediately went LOVE IT!
Second choice is Oliver. : )

We have a Toyota Sienna, and I love it as much as I can love a van. There is a lot of room for everyone…harder for them to touch each other…which is important. Still important even though mine are teenagers now– we had the same kind of van when they were little.
Loving Finn!

I said I would NEVER get a minivan too, and now it's my favorite vehicle so far!! So much room, easy in and out…and the doors open for you! I vote for the Honda – that's what we have. We just took a long trip in it and we had too much room.

Trina,
I feel you on the mini. I swore, I would never no-way, no how get a mini van. Then I got one, at it. was. awesome! Mostly because the children can not touch each other, and the tv, and the doors, and the interior space, and that they can get in and out with out me lifting them, and better on gas. Coming from someone who had the larger SUV {gas hog & hard to get around parking spots, and traffic} and the BMW X5 SUV, I love our mini. Granted I have a car to drive around when I don't have the kids, it's awesome. Wouldn't trade it for anything. I have the Odyssey, and it runs like a machine, drives great. As far as the names, I like Oliver. :)

For whatever it's worth (and it's ok to own a minivan by the way) I heard the Honda Odyssey kicks ass for hauling kids around. I rode in a minivan down to the everglades in November and it was a nice ride :]

The name will most def arrive when you see your baby. Im not a fan of suggesting names but I mostly liked the ones you listed except for Otto. Thanks for the babyname websites. It'll come in handy for the future.

Oh thank you guys for your sweet comments and suggestions.. I'm loving all the name ideas and today I'm not feeling so bad about the mini. The thing I keep hearing the most is how after everyone gets it they can't figure out how they lived with out it…. so I think I'll plan on that too.
And K. Crane- you saying you hear the Odyssey kids ass….kind of makes it sound cool (hahaha)

How adorable do you look?!
I must admit I was one of those "I'll never drive a mini-van" Moms. But when our third child came along 14 months to the day after our second child, there was no more fighting it. We have the Honda Odyssey and can I just tell you? I LOVE this vehicle.
That being said, the day I drop our youngest off to college I am driving right to the car dealership for a nice little sedan.
BUT…I will NEVER NEVER drive a station wagon!

I love the name Oliver, but my husband nixed it. Our nearly seven-month old son is named Finley Parker. I was amazed that my husband okayed it. He was more opinionated than I ever imagined he would be!

I've been a silent follower of your blog for some time but the idea of boys names was too hard to resist as I have 2 boys and struggled with names. My boys are Nicholas and Hugo. Your list is fantastic but just wanted to add that Rafferty and Sullivan were on my list which I think are great names with some difference. Have fun choosing!!

Hope you settle on a name how about Leo?
As for the cars my husband has a Hyunda santafa very nice, diesel so good on the gas, & it dosn't make that chuga sound it is a seven seatter very roomy in the back when seats come up,
My Toyota Pyjaro is quiet squashy with seat's up in boot.
I was looking at the Toyota kluger they seem good the boot opens & closes with out leaving the car so good for school drop of & pick ups!!
Good luck :)
