I’ve long loved cross art like this. In fact, I’ve been swooning over this image for awhile. A couple of weeks ago my friend Chrissy , who is a great decorator, posted a picture of her newly decorated bedroom and lo and behold … the cool cross art. Which she made! I’m pretty sure I’m going to be making one these, in the near future. Chrissy was kind enough to share pictures and instructions:

SUPPLIES NEEDED
+ 2’x3′ canvas
+ gold leaf starter kit
+ white acrylic paint
+ large paint brush
+ a ruler
+ tape measure
+ painters tape
+ several smaller paint brushes
+ a level
SIMPLE DIRECTIONS:
01 / Paint the canvas bright white like a crazy person for some texture.
02 / Find the center and measure 12 inches from there vertically and horizontally.
03 / Then I got out the painters tape. I made each section 4″x4″ (see image below)
04 / Follow the Gold Leaf directions and VIOLA!

Have you done any great DIY decoding projects lately? I still love the pillowcase art idea. If you have any lovely projects that you’d like to share I’d love to hear from you (trina@lalalovelythings.com).

Um….this may just be my brain on cold medicine……but I totally think you could combine this idea with the last post. You could make a canvas that said It’s OK. I also don’t see why you couldn’t do this with metallic acrylic paints if gold leaf seems too scary. I mean, I personally would be worried that I would screw up if using gold leafing. But it does look so pretty, doesn’t it?
