Today’s new column is called MONDAY MESS.
Mondays can be a drag. Messes are definitely a downer. But beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.
Haven’t you ever been on the inter webs and spied someone’s messy desk and thought it to be beautiful? Truly, a beautiful mess, right? There have been so many times I have seen piles and clutter, desks, boards, nightstands, and the like, that are bit messy but ever so interesting.
While we are all striving for perfection, I’m convinced that it is the imperfection that is interesting. I’m certain that if your home is filled with beautiful things (and by that I mean, things that have meaning and beauty to you) than even when these items are strewn about or out of their place they still somehow bring a sense of interest to your space. Perfection isn’t always pretty. So, on this Monday when the laundry pile is overwhelming, the dishes are stacked to the ceiling and you can’t see the bottom of your desk, take heart! You are not alone! And do look a little closer because I’m quite certain there is pretty to be found in your piles.
This column is going to feature well lived in spaces of stylish and interesting people living with interesting and stylish things. While I love, and pretty much adore, looking at styled spaces, I love even more peeking into well loved and lived in homes. And I think you, just, might too? Each week we’ll host a conversation on a featured space, acceptance of imperfection, organizational tips and tricks and, end with a little inspiration. It will look a little like this:
PHOTOS / The mess
CLEAN IT / Blogger will share a space in their home they plan to pay special attention to this week. As well as a favorite organizational tip, trend or product. Anything and everything they might have to say on the subject of clean.
LEAVE IT / Blogger will share a space that, although it may drive them crazy, they are willing to let go this week. Accept it as it is. Move on and clean/organize it when they can.
BELIEVE IT / Blogger will share an inspirational thought, quote, idea, etc. Something in their own words.

Trina … bravo on this column!! Monday always has a loom on me. I always seem to forget, spill, trip, not think straight … and I just need to give myself some grace if I can make it out the door.
Usually, I don’t have a physical mess… I just forget stuff. I head to the gym and I forgot my sports bra. I head to work and I forgot my lap top. I head to the pharmacy and I forgot my prescription. My brain is a mess : )
Love your quote, too. xo

LOVE this!! and that goodwill tip is brilliant…
I always wanted to do a series where people with kids take a picture of what their living room actually looks like at 5pm (mostly to prove to my husband that we are not the only crazy, messy house)…haha!

Thanks, Michelle. I think the 5pm room post is brilliant. It would be great for all husbands of the world to see and revolutionary for moms feeling overwhelmed and guilty.

LOVE this idea. It’s brilliant and let’s all try to keep it a little more real. I also love Michelle’s idea about the living room at 5 p.m. I’m not alone. I’ll be tuning in every Monday for sure.

Trina, this is a pretty cool idea. We are always trying so hard to show the very best of our lives on our blogs. A little reality is refreshing.
And is that Yes to Carrots hand cream I spy? That stuff is so good. I love it!
BTW….cleaning is on the brain. I am doing some spring cleaning posts over on my blog this week! Stop by when you get a chance.

What a brilliant new column! I’m so looking forward to future posts. As for my bathroom, I don’t have enough counter space for things to get out of control. The rest of my apartment can get to be a mess during the week though — which is strange because I consider myself a very tidy person.

thanks you, Brandi. I’m so glad you like…I think it is going to be fun! Things always seem to get a bit messier during the hustle and bustle of the week, don’t they? xo . t
