Monday Mess . Two Ellie

Do you know Paula of Two Ellie?  Paula and I started blogging around the same time and we have followed along on each others blogs and lives ever since.  I haven’t met Paula in person, yet, but I hope to in the very near future.  I’m quite certain that we would be fast friends as we share a lot of interests and have a very similar outlook on life.  Paula is sweet, genuine and super stylish.  I’m always inspired by both her fashion + decor choices.  Her distinct style favors neutrals, simplicity and and a clean classic look.  I always look forward to seeing what she is up to with her darling kids, her gorgeous home, photography business (her + her hubby take gorgeous photos), and her online shop.  And to end on a sweet note I’m always wanting to try her gluten free chocolate chip cookie recipe.

I featured my bedside table area. It’s always a mess. Magazines and books piled up. Outfit and shoes from the previous day. A snack from the night before and my accessory pile keeps on growing.

I am in desperate need of cleaning out my laundry room. It also serves as the pass through to the garage and it has simply gotten out of control. I really just need to empty it and then organize it efficiently. I also think it needs a little makeover and maybe then it will be too pretty to mess up.

As for today I am letting go of the kids rooms. I recently did a huge clean up and purge, but it is amazing how fast they can become disheveled again. In the next few months I will split the kiddos up once again so they can have their own rooms rather than bedroom and playroom. So really what is the point of keeping it all straight now???

NOTE : On Paula’s bedside table (I knew you wanted to know, just like me):  Bigelow Chapped Hands Remedy /Burt’s Bee’s Lip Balm /  One Thousand Gifts  / Jenis Splendid Ice Cream / The Lee Brother’s Simple Fresh Southern / My Father’s Daughter /jewelry from Banana Republic + Charming Charlie (I’m impressed by the chocolate)

What about you?  I’d love to know what is on your bedside table.  Do you keep it organized and neat or is it a little disheveled and well used?  My bedside table looks pretty similar to Paula’s.  Maybe just a little messier and add a baby monitor…..your turn!

It’s such a relief to see that other bloggers live the way that I do! Except, I have to admit (if I’m VERY honest) that your bedside table is a hell of a lot tidier than mine is. It’s not so much the table – that has a clock, a book and a lamp – so far, so good. However, underneath is where the trouble starts. I have a pile of magazines and books SO big that they have created their own ‘table’ – which I am ashamed to say, I actually occasionally use as a table. The satisfaction I feel when I periodically clear this hell hole out is overwhelming…as is the despair when it gradually rises again with fresh, new, thicker additions! Hello – my name is Paula and I am a magazine/interiors book addict. – perhaps I should have started with that line…

p.s. LOVE your blog – glad to have stumbled across you.

Thank you so much! I find it such a relief too that other people have piles and messes and as you said, “live the way I do.” That is why I wanted to start this series. But I also wanted to convey that other peoples “messes” sometimes don’t look so messy and sometimes, they in fact, look kind of pretty. And the thing of it is, someone might look at your nightstand and pile of books (love that you sometimes use it as a table) and think it actually looks kind of cool. Perspective, yes?
And I am so with you on the satisfaction and despair when cleaning and then messing it up again. In fact, it happens so quickly around here I think I live in the in between.
Thanks for the conversation and have a lovely day!

Great Monday mess. I’m sure i’ve seen her blog before but obviously lost the link in the cyberspace/bookmark black hole! Thanks for reminding me. I started mine at the same time too. I love to go back to the beginning of people’s archives and see the progression. It really makes me smile.

My bedside tends to collect a LOT of glasses, half full of water. My dining room table is where the real mess accumulates (like last Monday’s post). And don’t even get me started on my desk in the work room.

Well at least glasses look pretty…..for me it is half empty water bottles. I’ve finally mastered keeping the kitchen table clear but now everyone piles on the small couch next to the kitchen table. What can I say we are piler people!

I loved seeing Paula’s “mess” though I feel like that’s a bit of a misnomer–her bedside area is pretty darn cute with its variety of collected items, if you ask me! Paula–will you tell us where you find those cute wedges?!

I am a fan of Paula at Two Ellie :D love that lamp that she has on her side table.
My sidetable doesn’t look anything like this. It looks like one hot mess with books, magazine and toys piled high. Oh well. maybe tomorrow I would do something with the books.
Love your blog and your blog name by the way :D

Thank you so much! My night stand is a hot mess too… I tried tidying it up a bit after looking at Paula’s pretty table all week. It looks a little better. At least for now :)
