Say, Mothers Are Lovely

The loveliest lady I know is, no doubt, my Mom.  It’s the truth.  She is beautiful, she is kind, she is compassionate, she is giving (almost to a fault) and she is strong.  She has that quiet inner strength, the kind that often goes un-noticed, and the very kind that I am trying to find in myself, these days.

While I was in New York, I came across this little  Mother ‘s Poem at Shabby Chic and I just couldn’t leave the store without it.  It is exactly how I feel and I just knew it belonged with my Mom.

Mother is a little girl who trod my path before me;
Just a bigger, wiser little girl who ran ahead –
Bigger, wiser, stronger girl who always watches o’er me,
One who knows the pitfalls in the rugged road I tread.

Mother is a playmate who will always treat me kindly –
Playmate who will yield me what true happiness demands.
She will never let my feet stray into brambles blindly –
Mother’s just a bigger little girl who understands.

Mother is an older little playmate who’ll befriend me –
Yesteryear she traveled in the path that’s mine today.
Never need I fear a foe from which she might defend –
Faithful little pal who ran ahead and learned the way.

If one of my little la la’s ever buys something like this for me, one day, than I’ll know I have done an ok job.

I love talking about mothers and daughters.  It is such a fascinating dynamic.  It can all be very good, go bad, and then suddenly be better, than before, all in a matter of a days time.  But, I’m curious, what do you love about your mom (or your relationship with your mom)?  And what qualities of hers do you wish to have in your own life?

    She’s elegant, classy, warm and SO SO SO caring!!! She is the epitome of “home”. We moved around a lot and she always managed to create a warm and inviting home wherever she found herself.
