can you believe summer is really over? i’m in denial. really. i might not accept it until i see snowflakes grace the ground. it was my hope to have my back patio all prettied up in june and do a post then, but it just never happened. i sometimes start things i can’t (or more like, don’t) finish. but, i still wanted to share. because living in the details sometimes means letting a few details go.
click through for more photos + more (possibly unfinished) details . . .
this space is filled with hand me down furniture, and a few updates from IK. the cushions were recovered a few years back and are already overly lived in (by children and our resident pet, chocolate chip-munk). I decided to cover the seat cushions in a black IKEA blanket to protect from further wear and tear. the tree stumps, are just that.
i found this pretty peacock esque chair at a local antique store for a song.
my biggest piece of unfinished business is that white cloth behind the couch. in my mind it was going to an awesome art installation, full of different ropes and strings …. totally interesting and inspirational. and well, this was as far as i got. the mister still keeps asking me why i have hung a white sheet up. next year, maybe. this year, these littles needing popsicles was more popular.
indoors or outdoors it’s always important to me to have little somethings that mean more than a little even if it is not a lot. i collected these stones and shells in england in april and they are a reminder to rest which is the very thing i hope this space invites and delivers. we did a lot of living on this back patio this summer and i’m glad to let the memories live happily in my head until we are able to make new ones next year.
