hi friends!  i thought i’d share my new hair cut with you.  i’ve been wanting to cut my hair for, like, ever.  i kept saying, “i’m going to get in really good shape and then chop my hair and go really blonde.”  well, that was like 6 hair cuts ago.  right before new years i decided to just go for it.  i had this super strong urge to cut my hair and just shed all of the heaviness of it (literally and figuratively).  let it go.  while my plan to go blonde didn’t quite work (has to be a bit of a gradual process) the cut did (i think i might even want to go a wee bit shorter?).  i feel so much lighter!  and, the good news is that i can do my hair so much faster.  i’m loving the tousled look, and i like to wear it straight too.  its a little hard to tell in the photos, but the front is a tad longer than the back which gives it some depth and interest.  for me, it was definitely a welcome change.

have you ever had a strong urge to cut your hair?  and, if you went through with it, did you love it or regret it?

p.s.  my favorite styling products are :  surf spray | mega dust | all in one milk | mousse styling

what are you fave hair products?

Good for you. It’s really cute! It looks like you got a great cut with the perfect layering. (Don’t you hate the word layering? Doesn’t it remind you of the 90s and getting a Rachel cut? And don’t you hate it when you go to the hairstylist NOW and she gives you a bad Rachel cut? This hasn’t happened in awhile because I found a good stylist and stuck to her, but I digress…)

I only get my hair cut a few times a year when the urge washes over me. I have to “feel it” to do it. And it does feel like some kind of psychic release to get it done. I had long, long, long hair for about a year after having my baby and after awhile it was weighing me down. Now I have a shoulder length bob and I love it! I have thick wavy hair and I don’t have to style it at all, it just does it’s thing and looks great and I don’t feel like I’m carrying a Crystal Gail mop around.

thank you! oh, yeah… i tried the rachel cut and have asked for jennifer anniston’s color like a bazillion times. and finally a good stylist told me that her color does not work for my skin tone. sounds like you have found your perfect cut ! that is fabulous…and oh crystal gail… i have memories of her hair on the cover of record. xo . t

love it! I always have the urge to cut my hair. Thankfully, I don’t always act out on my urges because every time I do I regret it immediately. For now, I just get my hair trimmed when it needs it and recite my mantra of long hair, don’t care regularly. It reminds me that even though my long hair is unruly and hard to brush, cutting it only makes things worse for me. :( Your hair on the other hand looks amazing. Wish I could pull of the short hair thing.

thank you so much! it’s good to know what works for you and what doesn’t. i’m sure i’ll be back to long hair eventually. i prefer long hair in the summer because you can just let it go and tie it up. xo .t

    GREAT hair cut, nicely done.
I have had the urge for bangs after a few years of not having them. Have an appointment scheduled for this Saturday. Note to the world: do NOT Google “mature bangs” when looking for images of hairstyles. I got nothing but porn sites. But for some reason “older women bangs” brings up only hairstyles.
Think I have a bit of new year/new you itchies.

Very cute! I LOVE shorter cuts because they add so much personality. I’ve had super long hair since I was like 16, and I have major anxiety about cutting it. Even though I would love a sporty shorter cut, it takes SO much courage to cut long hair! Yours looks great! I am honestly a step closer to cutting mine now…

I’m laughing to myself right now because this post could not be anymore fitting for me at the moment. I have always had super long, dark hair. The only time I cut my hair (to my shoulders) I immediately regret it and wished for the day my long hair grew back. Recently, I’ve seen so many long bobs and I’m dying for them. Something so sharp and polished about them. Anyways, I also haven’t dyed my hair in over 2 years!! I swore to myself that I was going to make a change this past week and dyed added some light peekaboo highlights. Still getting used to it! Maybe I’ll be brave enough to cut it as well but for now, this will do. I love your cut, I wish I could pull of those bangs! Looks great! xx
