Prayer for Everyone

Prayer For Everyone

Obviously this world we live in is a broken place full of hurting people.  People that who are fighting for basic needs  (water, food, education, etc), and struggling to just survive, daily.  The need for change is painfully obvious, but the way to take action isn’t always so clear.

I’m only one person.

I’m a million miles away.

What can I do that could make any kind of difference?

Prayer For Everyone

Obviously this world we live in is a broken place full of hurting people. People that who are fighting for basic needs (water, food, education, etc), and struggling to just survive, daily. The need for change is painfully obvious, but the way to take action isn’t always so clear.

I’m only one person.

I’m a million miles away.

What can I do that could make any kind of difference?

Pray!

And, ask others to join you.

For me, prayer is simply talking to God.  Giving Thanks.  Asking for Help.  Making my requests known to Him.  Sharing my life.  Listening for answers.  Repenting.  Sitting in quiet.  Reflecting. Talking to Him about my day in the car.  Thanking Him for our meal each night at dinner.  It’s very personal.

Yet, maybe sometimes a little too personal.  And, by that I mean, my focus isn’t enough on what is going on outside of my world.  It’s not enough on what’s going on around this big blue broken world.  There are brothers and sisters across the seas.  Ones I’ve never met.  Ones who are known and deeply loved by God.

From today, September, 24th to October 1st everyone from every faith, every walk of life life, everywhere, can take part in Prayer for Everyone by sharing the Goals with their faith community and their friends.

The Global Goals are for Sustainable Development to achieve three extraordinary things by 2030.  End extreme poverty.  Fight inequality and injustice.  Combat climate change.

I’ve decided to take this week of prayer and make it a teachable moment in our home.  To help open the eyes of my children to children around the world.  Children who are the same age as them, yet live very different lives.  Each day we are going to take one of the goals as our focus and pray specifically for that need.  We will pray for things like clean water, no hunger, education, good health and so on.  I’m super excited to start a conversation not only online, but more importantly in the lives of my children.  To help open their eyes and hearts to others.  Down the street and across the sea.

Would you join me?

Prayer changes things, so let’s change the world, together!

I’m happy to partner with ONE Campaign to help spread the word about Prayer for Everyone.

I also invite you to join me in helping to spread the word to your friends, family and communities of faith.  If you are sharing online, be sure to use the hashtag : #PrayerforEveryone

Below you will find a visual of The Global Goals, followed by a detailed description.

I’ll be using these goals during Prayer for Everyone (Sept 24th – October 1st) as prayer list.

Each day focusing on a specific goal to pray for.  I’ll also be sharing  goals/prayers on Instagram as a reminder and an invitation to join!
