It’s freezing and windy here, today. I’m finally feeling up to a walk, but certainly not up to today’s weather. Fall walks are my favorite and I’ve been missing them this year. The crunch of the leaves, the glorious colors, the breeze that whispers in the woods. Maybe, tomorrow?
As, for today, I’ve got my mind set on the indoors. It always happens this time of year. Seasonal nesting? Hibernation preparation? I’m not exactly sure what we humans call it, but it happens. This past week, all I can think about is making our family room more cozy. Comfy couch (ours is not) (tell me your faves if you have any), fluffy blankets, firewood and a new TV (hey, we spend a lot of time indoors during the winter, here). I’m not in the mood to re-decorate, really, just to . . .
fluff things up a bit, literally and figuratively.

In the colder months I think of hot baths, and this one surely caught my attention. I’m really starting to make a ritual of it with epsom salt lavender.
What do you think of this tub? I think it is kind of amazing. I know, it’s like a big bowl of soup, right? The only thing I’m not crazy about is where would you rest your head if you want to really relax? But, so cool. This bath is actually in a store…A store, called The Line, that is set up like a house. I think the concept is super cool.

Winter also means lots of reading for me. I love to find a happy little spot and curl up with a good book, a cup of tea and stare out the window at the weather, wild one minute and calm the next.
This built in couch with cushions is pretty lovely.

I know this isn’t cozy, just by the looks of it. We need a big fluffy rug, yes? But, I love the inspiration board made of cork. If there is one time of year where I really love my inspiration board it is during the colder months. I tack up and pin up pictures of happy memories, words that encourage me, photos of places of I’ve been. Colors that calm me….you name it. Everything can look a bit drab outside, so I love having a crazy mix in front of me when it’s freezing.
Anyone else out there starting to prepare for human hibernation? What kinds of things do you do to prepare?
