Trend: Velvet Chairs

Velvet is everywhere and I’m a fan. With the colder months upon us, I can think of nothing better than curling up in a velvet chair with a good book (well perhaps wearing a little velvet too).

Click through for a few favorite ways to incorporate and create cozy.

While velvet seems to be on the surge this season, I have to say that I’ve been loving it for some time. I have a lovely little blue velvet hand-me-down chair tucked into the corner of our bedroom (perhaps the hardest working room in our house). It was my husband’s grandmothers. I’m always a fan of incorporating sentimental pieces throughout the home. This chair is where I sit, many mornings, with a cup of coffee, my Bible, my journal, and a pen.

Lately, I’ve been noticing velvet chairs everywhere. Some are vintage-esque. And other’s quite modern. Either way, my eye seems to be drawn to this velvet chair trend.

While these little gems are perfect tucked away in corners, crannies, and cozy spots they also work beautifully in living rooms and dining rooms (the velvet dining chair trend is also very big at the moment).

Then there are velvet sofas. Classic, modern and always a good idea, if you ask me. This one from Lu Lu and Georgia is so lovely. I always prefer fabric sofas as they are much warmer and cozier….and where I live, just outside of Chicago, that really matters.

And, let’s not forget attire. Because velvet fashion is everywhere this season. I’ve seen so many velvet shoes. I have a few on my wishlist, like these burgundy loafers from ABLE.

I’m not quite ready to get behind the return of the Juicy Cotoure tracksuit (I love returning to trends but this one is a no-go for me). However, I think I could get behind these velvet joggers (and because I could just toss them in the cart at Target, why not?) on a cold winter’s day.

What about you? Do you think you could get behind the velvet trend? How would you incorporate?
