Perspective

What is your perspective like?

Glass half empty or glass half full?

Partly cloudy or partly sunny?

I confess (should I be putting this in writing?) that I have a tendency to see the glass half empty. Many times I see through the lens of lack. I notice what is wrong before I acknowledge what is right. I tell God all my woes, before I make my requests known (when I know Scripture tells us “…With Thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6). I allow pain to blind me from beauty.

I’m working on flipping this.

It’s a process. (Hello… I wrote a book about it . . . The Art of Finding Beauty in the Everyday).

And, I’m willing to keep walking the path. Each day. I’ll begin again.

Let’s open the blinds and say, “Oh, hey, there’s the sun!” Even if we have to squint to see it.

If we have a lot of requests, even serious ones, to bring before the Throne, let’s come with a lot of praise to offer first.

This is just a simple Friday afternoon post to cheer us (myself included) on, in noticing beauty, in believing the best, in giving thanks always, in training our eyes to see the glass half full.

Sometimes imagery is the best way to get my heart beating in the direction of beauty and goodness. So, I thought I’d share a few beautiful and inspiring images to lift our souls.
