Wanted / shopbop

WANTED -Shopbop via la la lovely

I’m curious.  When it comes to clothes do you change colors schemes when seasons change?  I’m beginning to notice that my style is somewhat skipping seasons.  It moves along and morphs from boots to sandals, from long heavy sweaters to swinging flowy dresses, from ripped up jeans to their shorter variety, and so on.  However, the colors I’m continually drawn to seem be on repeat each season.  I kind of dig it because it lets me crossover seaons items and mix and match.

Shopbop is having a major sale (25% off code below), so I’ve been setting sights on a few pieces I’m loving for spring and summer.  This is where and when I like to purchase a pair of sandals.  I’m especially loving mules and wedges, at the moment.  Here are a few of my faves.

And how about these accessories?  I said I’d NEVER wear a Fanny Pack, but here I am suggesting one to you.  I guess because I’m wanting one too.  Hey the 90’s called and they said Fanny Packs are cool again.

And, a few clothing stapes for summer.  Yes, I’ve included a sweater.  Because where I live we still pull out sweaters and long sleeves when the sunlight leaves for the day or when we are indoors under all that air conditioning.  Do you too?

What is on your wish list for spring and summer?

You can get 25% off your order at SHOPBOP by using code: SPRING25 when you checkout through April 9 at 11:59 p.m.

Items above :
Madewell Kimono Cardigan Sweater / Baggu Drawstring Bucket / Free People Avi Mexico Short / Vince Kaya Wedge Mules / Double Ball Stud Earrings / Onyx Dagger Earrings / Claire V. Supreme Fanny Pack / Madewell Dominica Maxi Cover Up Dress / Sol Sana Ella Sandals

little lovely things

of course things don’t make you happy.  ok, well maybe for 5 minutes they might.  while things aren’t the thing to build your life around they are known to provide a solution, fulfill a need, or just perk a person up a bit (hence flame earrings).  i’m a little things person in that i always seem to find or to accumulate little things.  a big amount of little instead of a one big thing.  i’m starting to fine tune my eye or maybe it’s more like tame my mind that says things like, “it’s just little so it’s not a big deal.”  i’m trying, lately, to look for the little things that might serve a purpose or fulfill a need, and to also get rid of ones that don’t.  it’s not something i’m trying to perfect, but practice.  i won’t be perfect and i’ll still pick up things for a little pick me up, but i’m passing the days of tossing every little pretty i pass into my target cart.

here are a few little lovely things i’m loving right now:

1/ this pouch by baggu.  it’s my favorite for travel (especially to england or overseas).  it’s great for tossing into a bigger bag, or to wear around as wristlet (just attach a leather strap like this).

2/ flame stud earrings.  i love the modern lines.  and, everyday fun earrings you wear everyday are a bargain as far as i’m concerned.

3/ mario bedescu drying lotion.  for some reason my face is breaking out like i’m 17.  and, since i used this when i was 17 i thought i better get some because this stuff works. a lot of years ago, i saw an ad in the back of a magazine that promised to get rid of a pimple virtually overnight.  so i scrounged up my lunch money and i ordered it.  not on the internet.  no, through the mail.  i picked up a bottle the other day at nordstrom’s + it works just as a good as i remembered.

4/ book darts because.  marking up books is wear it is at, at least as far as i’m concerned.  i’m ready to say goodbye to my scrap pieces of paper that point out the pages i want to return to.

5/ bkr water bottles.  i’m la la loving this mild minty green one called detox.  but, all of the colors are so pretty.  i’m finding in my quest to drink more water that i do better if i drink it out of anything but a plastic water bottle.  i started with this large starbucks cup with a straw.  which  i love, but then i got concerned about lip wrinkles from sipping.  i know it sounds vein, but i just call it prevention or maybe prolonging.  anyhow, i wanted something else, that was a little smaller and packable with a tightened up lid so i could toss it in my purse.  i’m really happy with both options and they are serving a great purpose.

what little lovely things are you loving lately?

wear it / plane

wear-it-on-a-plane-_-la-la-lovely

i’m traveling today and thought i’d share what i normally wear on a plane.  the outfit can vary a bit, but i promise, whether a long or short flight, i have a bit of a uniform.

the funny thing is i used to have a flying uniform in high school.  in those days, some people still dressed up to fly.  i remember a teacher of mine saying that she always dressed up when flying and i must have been very influenced by that because just as everyone was starting to go major casual, i decided i had to wear khakis or dress pants – never jeans.  i was an old soul, i suppose.

these days i always wear :

these days i always wear :

black pants or leggings.  these are my favorite legging jeans – pictured above.

booties (or my nikes, if i’m traveling long distance)

– my fashionABLE scarf (this is my current fave).  it’s like my security blanket.

-a wrap sweater (layered with a tank + t-shirt)

-fuzzy socks.  i usually keep these in my carry on and slip them on after take off.  my feet always get so cold.

earphones (music and movies are essential)

my baggu pouch.  i bring a big tote but i love this little pouch to carry my passport in.  it works great as a wristlet when you get to your destination (i loved using it in london last year).

and, sometimes i do wear jeans  if i’m on a short flight.  but, for anything over 3 hours i’m all about the comfy black pants.

do you have a travel uniform?

if you are traveling soon here are some tips on flying with kids + a few books i’ve read recently (i love having books on my iPad).  tell me if you’ve read anything good.  i love suggestions.

ahh london.  it seems like it was all a dream.   this trip was somewhat of a last minute thing but i’m so glad i ended up going.  i tagged along with some of my close friends and we went to colour conference  which was pretty amazing.  after a few days at the conference in london i headed south to worthing to visit my british bestie, maggie.  maggie and i have been friends for almost 20 years.  on my very first trip to england i stayed with her family and we’ve stayed great friends over the years.  i spent time with her sweet family, drank lots of tea and chatted and chatted and chatted.

+the colored houses get me every single time.  made a super quick trip to the portobello market with a friend.  could have spent hours wandering about

+we stayed right in the piccadilly circus area which was perfect.  with paul + laduree near by my taste buds traveled to france.

+i brought along my baggu pouch which is my new favorite thing.  it was perfect to slip on my wrist and it held all my essentials.  i have the medium gold pouch and the neon strap.  i’ve been using it almost everyday since i’ve been home too.

+maggie’s mom, Pam Weaver,  has written several books and it was fun to see them at the bookstore

so, i had a bit of money saved up for a new couch and i spent it on this trip instead.  usually, if given the choice, i’ll take the trip every time.  things come and go but memories last a lifetime.  my sister, who kept pushing me to go, said i should be able to live on this trip for a good 6 months and i believe she is right.  i shared a bit about why i went and i can’t tell you how happy i am that i did.  now instead of geting annoyed every time i look at my mangy old couch i just smile.
