I have longed loved these LOVE Pillowcases. I’ve talked about ordering them and thought of where they might be happiest in my home but I just never got around to it. But, one lovely reader, Kylie, did [and this is why I love blogging so much]. Kylie read one of my posts and took the plunge and ordered the pillowcases. And she didn’t even use them as pillowcases. She framed them as art. I would have never thought of this. But isn’t it such a fun idea? The above pictures are of Kylie’s home.

I confuse my seasons. When it’s cold and the ground is covered in white outside, I tend to crave a little color inside. Maybe it’s my mind remembering summer. Green grass that cushions and carpets the ground. Pink petaled flowers that find themselves home to the fairies. Blue skies that make me believe the ocean is above me.
Today, the ocean sky has gone grey. All green is frozen in a deep sleep, and a crunchy white snow is sticking to the ground like glue. This is what I see outside my window.
Inside, I’m crushing on color. Green Kitchen cabinets, simple sun-flowered velvet pillowcases, resting shoes in a row to make a rainbow.

Yes, nothing says color like a can of paint, but sometimes it is a simple pillowcases and a throw blanket.
If your craving a pop that only paint can provide, why not try trim, or painting the wall at chair rail level or three quarters of the way up? We did this in our playroom (dining room) a few years ago and I’m still loving it.
If you don’t want to commit color to a wall, how about a cabinet. I la la love his Ikea hack.
Maybe purchasing or painting isn’t really in the cards, but organizing is, because it’s January and most of us are getting around to some form of re-arranging or re-organizing. I like the idea of these kind of shoe shelves in a mudroom or closet and grouping the shoes by color. The color coordination has me thinking of rainbows or at least Skittles.
Hoping your day is filled with sunshine, blue skies, rainbows, or at least pretty pictures of them.
Do you crave color in the winter?

Colored doors, always. Lately, I seem to be drawn to this “rosey” pink color. It packs a pretty punch. I’ve got these pillowcases in my shopping cart, at the moment. Also, this door is the same color on the outside too. I love that.

This cozy looking sweater dress with oversized pockets, by Free People, has me ready for fall. It’s definitely on my wish list!

While summer may feel technically over, I say s’mores season is not. I’ve never thought of a frozen s’more before. But, now that we are aquainted, I’m sure I’ll be thinking about them all the time, until I try one. Recipe can be found here.
Isn’t that the truth? Sometimes, we just don’t have the language for things until we are on the other side of them.

For Ella’s birthday we are decorating her room, for real. We have switched rooms a lot in the past year and la la’s room doesn’t really look very la la. At first we were thinking about wallpaper and than all came to a halt when I saw the beautiful calendar by Julia Kostreva (I have one of her journals and love them). I thought it would be really fun to paint a geometric pattern as an accent wall. We are going to go with similar colors (some sort of pink and orange hue). I’m even thinking we should through in a few white polka dots. There are still pieces to find and many details to sort out but the above outlines some definite choices. For a fun element we are going to do a swinging chair (does anyone have any tips on where to find one?). To see more inspiration on a little big girl room check out la la’s board on Pinterest.
