Are you reading any new books? I tend to read several books at a time. Some fiction, some classic and some with purposeful learning. Reading more than one book at a time usually results in me not finishing any of them. One book that I am reading, at the moment, and sure to finish is The Next Christians by Gabe Lyons.
The subtitle of the book is The Good News About The End of Christian America. And what I can tell you is, if you are at all interested in this subject of Christianity and/or Christianity in America or society in general than this is a very interesting read. For some the title may be a put off and for others a suspected truth, but either way the book delivers a most interesting take on society today. A hopeful and optimistic outlook on not preserving but rather re-creating and restoring.
This is not a do this, do that, be this or be that kind of book. It’s a thought provoking, idea engaging kind of book that really takes you to the heart of the matter. Lyons is the best combination of a descriptive story teller and engaging down to earth creative intellectual. Now, here is where I add a little something. Gabe is a personal friend of mine. Every time I am with him & his wife there is an added richness to my life. They are those of kind of friends. I always walk away processing my time with them and am always encouraged to live a more full, interesting, engaged, difference making kind of life. If that is the kind of life you are after than I’m quite certain this is the kind of book you will like.
The Next Christians (Doubleday) will be available in bookstores tomorrow, October 5th.

This looks really interesting. I consider myself a Christian, but I often get very frustrated with the religious ideas that this society has. I just might have to look for this book. Life changes. Times change. God knows that. And I think that His people have to learn how to change, too, to better represent Him.

I'll check it out. I tend to call myself a "Christ-follower" because Christian has (and rightly so!) such a bad connotation in this country. I'll add it to my amazon list.
