One thing on my list for this new and shiny year is to go to bed at a decent hour. It has every so slightly become a serious problem [see, I’ve talked about being tired before]. I know sleep is kind of important, especially when you are looking after 4 little la la’s, so I’ve decided I better get with it.
I think one of the best ways to actually follow through on this is to have a little ritual. Mine is going to look something like this [yes, I did say “going to” because, well, I’m working on it].
- 1st things first – Wash my face and slather myself in luxurious lotions + potions.
- make sure my bedroom is clean and uncluttered so that rest is easily inviting
- relax and do as I please, which likely means strolling around the inter webs, while partaking in a nice cup of tea
- Power down by 11pm [11:30 max] and from that point on reading or watching tv all for entertainments sake
and a rule I’m going to try to abide by is not taking my phone to bed. Its a big cheat on actually going to to sleep.
So tell me, do you have any bedtime routines or rituals that you follow?
I’ve talked about a few of my fave beauty products here + here.
Oh and if you need a good book to read before bed – these are still on my list!

Yep, going to bed earlier is perpetually on my ‘to-do’ list. Routine is checking on the boys, washing face/brush teeth, and crawl in bed with a good book. I go to bed as early as possible in order to allow solid reading time. No computer, tv. It’s amazing how much a good night’s sleep helps my mood. Last night I did not get one because both boys ran into our room in the middle of the night, kicked my husband out of bed, and proceeded to punch and kick me for the next few hours. Sigh….sometimes it doesn’t matter what you do.

The last thing I do before bed is take a shower. Sometimes I will read a magazine before turning in, but I try to keep the computer off for at least an hour before going to bed. I have found that the computer and Netflix makes my brain a little too wired to go to sleep. Yet sometimes I just have to have an Excedrin PM and some ear plugs to shut the world off.

@Miz.November, A shower or bath is always a good thing. Every night while I wash the dishes, I think I’m going to take a bath tonight and it just doesn’t happen. And I’m with you ideally I’d love to have the computer off for a bit. Well, I’m off to wash my face! XO t
