of course things don’t make you happy.  ok, well maybe for 5 minutes they might.  while things aren’t the thing to build your life around they are known to provide a solution, fulfill a need, or just perk a person up a bit (hence flame earrings).  i’m a little things person in that i always seem to find or to accumulate little things.  a big amount of little instead of a one big thing.  i’m starting to fine tune my eye or maybe it’s more like tame my mind that says things like, “it’s just little so it’s not a big deal.”  i’m trying, lately, to look for the little things that might serve a purpose or fulfill a need, and to also get rid of ones that don’t.  it’s not something i’m trying to perfect, but practice.  i won’t be perfect and i’ll still pick up things for a little pick me up, but i’m passing the days of tossing every little pretty i pass into my target cart.

here are a few little lovely things i’m loving right now:

 

 

1/ this pouch by baggu.  it’s my favorite for travel (especially to england or overseas).  it’s great for tossing into a bigger bag, or to wear around as wristlet (just attach a leather strap like this).

2/ flame stud earrings.  i love the modern lines.  and, everyday fun earrings you wear everyday are a bargain as far as i’m concerned.

3/ mario bedescu drying lotion.  for some reason my face is breaking out like i’m 17.  and, since i used this when i was 17 i thought i better get some because this stuff works. a lot of years ago, i saw an ad in the back of a magazine that promised to get rid of a pimple virtually overnight.  so i scrounged up my lunch money and i ordered it.  not on the internet.  no, through the mail.  i picked up a bottle the other day at nordstrom’s + it works just as a good as i remembered.

4/ book darts because.  marking up books is wear it is at, at least as far as i’m concerned.  i’m ready to say goodbye to my scrap pieces of paper that point out the pages i want to return to.

5/ bkr water bottles.  i’m la la loving this mild minty green one called detox.  but, all of the colors are so pretty.  i’m finding in my quest to drink more water that i do better if i drink it out of anything but a plastic water bottle.  i started with this large starbucks cup with a straw.  which  i love, but then i got concerned about lip wrinkles from sipping.  i know it sounds vein, but i just call it prevention or maybe prolonging.  anyhow, i wanted something else, that was a little smaller and packable with a tightened up lid so i could toss it in my purse.  i’m really happy with both options and they are serving a great purpose.
